Board of Health Explains Preference for Elected Status in Charter Review

LITTLETON — Board of Health explains preference for maintaining elected status in response to Charter Committee recommendation. At a joint meeting, Board Chair Kevin Davis, Vice Chair Matt Wayson, and Member Kevin E Baker stressed that election by residents strengthens accountability and independence in public health decisions. The Board expressed concern that an appointed structure could compromise independence from political pressure.

The Charter Committee, which previously voted to recommend the shift, committed to considering the Board's input in developing its final recommendations to the Select Board.
